Who should get a fall booster?

Question:

Who should get a fall booster?

Answer:
A fall booster is recommended for everyone 5 years of age and older. Booster doses help maintain and lengthen your level of protection against severe illness from COVID-19 as immunity (protection) decreases over time.

Children 5 to 11 years of age should get their fall booster at least 6 months after their primary series. People 12 years of age and older should get their fall booster at least 6 months after their primary series or previous booster, regardless of the number of booster doses previously received. People 12 years of age and older will be offered a bivalent vaccine.

Fall booster invites are going out now, starting with the people most at risk from COVID-19. This includes:

  • Seniors
  • Indigenous people
  • People who are clinically extremely vulnerable
  • Healthcare workers
You can book an appointment for your fall booster dose once you get an invite through the Get Vaccinated system.
