What is the recommended amount of immunisations a child...

Question:

What is the recommended amount of immunisations a child should receive?

Answer:

We recommend that children receive all publicly funded (free) vaccines that they are eligible for. You can find the schedule here. Information about vaccines for school aged children is here. Vaccinating your child is one of the most important things you can do to protect their health. Please find more info here.

Infants and young children are especially vulnerable to vaccine-preventable diseases because their immune systems are less mature, and so are less able to fight off infection. In infants and young children, these diseases can cause serious illness, long-term disability and even death. Vaccines provide the best and safest protection against them. Getting more than one vaccine at the same time is safe and ensures you or your children are protected against serious diseases earlier rather than later.

If this has not answered your question, or if you have others, please contact your local health unit and ask to speak to a public health nurse. You will find their number here.
