Should a person who received the monovalent COVID-19 vaccine or the Moderna bivalent vaccine for their fall booster now get the Pfizer bivalent vaccine?

Question:

Should a person who received the monovalent COVID-19 vaccine or the Moderna bivalent vaccine for their fall booster now get the Pfizer bivalent vaccine?

Answer:

If you already received your fall booster, whether that is a monovalent (original Pfizer or Moderna boosters) or bivalent such as Moderna, no further doses are recommended at this time. There is no evidence that one bivalent vaccine is better than another. Both vaccines are expected to provide better protection against Omicron subvariants than the original COVID-19 vaccines. Any monovalent or bivalent COVID-19 mRNA vaccine will boost immune responses and are likely to provide significant protection against hospitalization and severe disease. This recommendation will be reassessed throughout the winter season, as new evidence becomes available.
