Meningococcal C vaccine was given to my daughter in 2012...

Question:

Meningococcal C vaccine was given to my daughter in 2012 (grade 6) - does she qualify for free meningococcal quadrant vaccine (she is 18 now, in grade 12) as she was in grade 10 when the new quad version started to be given to grade 9 students.

Answer:

In BC, adolescents born on or after January 1, 2002, and who are in grade 9 or older are eligible for the publicly funded (free) Meningococcal Quadrivalent Conjugate Vaccines (Groups A, C, Y, W-135). These individuals are eligible for this vaccine up to 24 years of age (inclusive). Read why all vaccines in BC are not free here.

The meningococcal quadrivalent vaccines can be purchased and received from travel health clinics and most pharmacies in BC.
