I'm 65 yrs. old living in bc & just had my free vaccine shot - now I'm being told to come back in 1 yr. with a dr. referral to get a life time shot at a cost is this true ?
You have not mentioned what vaccine you are referring to but we are guessing you received the free pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine. There is another vaccine that protects against 13 strains of pneumonia (pneumococcal conjugate or Prevnar 13 vaccine). It is only publicly funded (free) for people with certain medical conditions but it is available for purchase for people who want protection. It should be given one year after the pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine. You can find more info here. Please resubmit your question if this in not what you are referring to.
