Question:

I was recently told that the current vaccines we have are not actually vaccines but rather "treatments" is this true?

Answer:

Different than most medicines that treat or cure diseases, vaccines prevent you from getting sick with the disease in the first place. They are made using killed or weakened versions of the disease-causing germ or parts of the germ (called antigens). When you get a vaccine, your immune system responds to the vaccine the same way it would to the real germ; by making antibodies to the germ in the vaccine which protects you from that disease.
