In BC, the rabies vaccine is provided free to those exposed to an animal that may have rabies and students attending a Canadian Veterinary College or Animal Health Training Centre. The vaccine may be provided by your local health unit or your educational institution. 
 
In BC, the vaccine is recommended (but not for free) for others at risk of being exposed to the rabies virus through work, volunteering or travel. The rabies vaccine can be purchased and received at travel health clinics. Services vary throughout BC; the rabies vaccine may also be available at pharmacies or doctors' offices in your area.
