I recently had COVID-19. How long should I wait for my booster dose?

Question:

I recently had COVID-19. How long should I wait for my booster dose?

Answer:
If you've recently had a positive COVID-19 test result, you can wait up to 6 months for a booster dose. The likelihood of reinfection is low in this time after infection.  The immune response is higher when there is more time between infection and vaccine.

Both vaccination and COVID-19 infection provide immunity. Vaccination is safer because it does not cause serious illness like COVID-19 does. Vaccines are highly effective in preventing serious illness and death, even after you have had a COVID-19 infection.
