Question:
I have a chronic health condition and I have a weak immune system. Should I get the COVID-19 vaccine?
Answer:
Speak with your immunization provider about your health and if you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 vaccine is not recommended for those who are immunosuppressed due to disease or treatment or those with an autoimmune condition. However, the COVID-19 may be offered to immunosuppressed individuals 18 years of age and older if:
- a risk assessment deems that the benefits outweigh the potential risks for the individual
- informed consent includes discussion about the absence of evidence on the use of COVID-19 vaccine for those who are immunosuppressed
