Question:

I am 77. Lived in Victoria for 50 years. Fairly sure I had a pneumonia shot sometime in the last 20 years. Can't remember where or when. No record of it. Should I get a booster?

Answer:

You can find tips for locating immunization records here. You will find info regarding pneumococcal vaccine here. The pneumo 23 vaccine is provided free to seniors 65 years and older. A 2nd dose of vaccine is recommended for people with certain medical conditions. Speak with your health care provider to find out if a second dose is needed and when to get it.  Most people won't need a booster. If you received your vaccine at a community pharmacist, you may be able to find the date by registering for an account at the Health Gateway.
