Question:

I am 73 years old and would like to get a pneumonia vaccination. How do I make these arrangements?

Answer:

There are two types of pneumococcal vaccines: the pneumococcal conjugate (PCV 13) vaccine that protects against 13 types of pneumococcal bacteria and the pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine that protects against 23 types of pneumococcal bacteria. The polysaccaharide vaccine is provided free to people 65 and over. A 2nd dose of vaccine is recommended for people with certain medical conditions. Read more here. Both vaccines are available at your local pharmacy.
