Question:

I am 71 years old. On January 16, 2015 I had my first ever pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine. I think I was told that I require a second vaccine in 5 years, now passed. Is this correct?

Answer:

A one time booster of Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine is given 5 years after the first, only to people with certain medical conditions. Please consult your immunization provider to determine if a 2nd Pneumococcal Polysaccharide Vaccine is required.
