I am 70 my specialist(rheumatologist) told me to get my flu shot and prevnar13 and in 2 months to get Pneumovax 23 however when i inquired.I was told that Prevnar is over 100.Can u help i am on Plaquenil and Naprasyn

Answer: 

Prevnar 13 (pneumococcal conjugate) vaccine is recommended and free for people 5 years of age and older with HIV infection or who have had a stem cell transplant. It is also recommended by Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization for some others with certain medical conditions but not provided free. It is available for purchase for all adults that want protection. Some health insurance plans will cover the cost of the vaccine. Please check with your provider. If you choose, there is no problem receiving the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine at the same time as the flu shot but in separate syringes.
