Question:

Does the 2020/2021 flu shot contain anything that was added due to COVID-19 (possibly in an attempt to prevent catching COVID-19 or for other reasons related to COVID-19)?

Answer:

Three of the strains in the influenza vaccine are new this year but the vaccine doesn't protect against COVID-19; it will only help prevent the flu. Getting the flu could make you more vulnerable to other infections such as COVID-19. No flu vaccine will protect against COVID-19 because influenza (flu) viruses are different from the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. This year, it’s more important than ever to protect ourselves and others around us from influenza, especially our health care workers and those who may be more likely to develop severe illness that would put them in hospital.
