Do I need to pay for the hepatitis B vaccine?
The hepatitis B vaccine is recommended and provided free to all children in BC as part of their routine childhood immunizations. It is also recommended and free for people born in 1980 or later and for children and adults at high risk of hepatitis B infection. Your health care provider will be able to tell you whether or not you are eligible for the free vaccine. You can also find a list of people eligible for the free hepatitis B vaccine here: http://www.healthlinkbc.ca/healthfiles/hfile25a.stm.
You can get the free vaccine from your local public health unit or pharmacist. Some doctors also provide immunizations. If you are not eligible for the free vaccine, you can purchase it from a pharmacy.
