I am interested in getting the Shingles vaccine. Is this a vaccine that you do, or can you advise on where I should go (GP?). I understand that there is a cost for it.

You can purchase the shingles vaccine at most travel clinics and pharmacies for about $200.  If you purchase the vaccine at a travel clinic, a doctor or nurse on site will be able to immunize you. Most pharmacists in BC are also able to immunize. Some health insurance plans may cover the cost of the vaccine; you can check with your provider for this information.

If you would like to be immunized by your doctor, you can find out if your doctor's office has a supply of the shingles vaccine.  The vaccine is not available for purchase from public health units.

You can find more information about the shingles vaccine in the HealthLinkBC File: Shingles Vaccine
