Can my doctor give me a booster against menengitis for free?...

Question:

Can my doctor give me a booster against menengitis for free? I'm uncertain if I have ever had my booster and my health unit doesn't know. Thank you.

Answer:

We do not have enough information to answer your question.  We recommend that you contact your local public health unit and ask to speak with a public health nurse.  A public health nurse can gather the information from you that is required to determine if you are eligibile for a free meningococcal vaccine.  The public health nurse will also have information on where you can get vaccinated in your area.  Some doctors provide immunizations, however services vary across BC.

Without a record of immunization or proof of immunity a person is considered unimmunized and unprotected.
